Incentive Programs Make Sense

Filed under: Employee Recognition, Incentive Programs — Incentive Programs Editor @ 10:59 am

As a manager of a mid-sized company I have had my hands full over the last year as you might imagine. With so much on the line in terms of financial survival I have had to oversee layoffs of some really great workers simply because we didn’t have the means to keep meeting our payroll and still make a go of it in keeping our doors open. It has been extremely difficult; not only in losing those employees but also in working to put together an operational plan that still got all of the work done. The remaining employees have been called upon to give more than they would under ordinary circumstances and I have really appreciated the extra effort they have made to come together and make it work. I know that they were very concerned about losing their own jobs but aside from that their motivation came from having been with the company for some time and the desire to see it through to the other side of this economic downturn.

Things have gradually improved day to day and we are seeing a sliver of light at the end of the tunnel. We are not ready to go back to working at full force in terms of our employee base but I wanted our employees to know that their work had been noticed and so I suggested that we implement a companywide rewards program that would offer incentives for superior work. We couldn’t go overboard in terms of the incentives but I was happy to learn that prizes were within our control and could be managed according to our budget. We could implement an employee recognition program now with prizes that made sense for our current circumstances and then grow the program as the company becomes financially healthy again in the coming years. All in all I know that incentive programs make sense not just because of what employees can hold in their hands but because they are being recognized and thanked appropriately.

An Employee Program Sets the Standard

Filed under: Employee Program, Employee Recognition — Incentive Programs Editor @ 7:22 am

When it comes to employee productivity, most employees within most companies will assess the standards that are expected and either work to meet that standard and solidify their job standing – at least as much as you can in this economy – or work to surpass the standard in their pursuit of excellence. It is important that companies, therefore, make the standards perfectly clear to their workforce so that they can help motivate them to continue achieving their best work.

Obviously pay scales, benefits, and bonuses do much to motivate workers but they are standard fare in the workplace; and with the economy putting such a burden on the bottom line of most industries it has become difficult to motivate with money when there’s no money to use in this pursuit. That’s why a well organized employee program can have a wonderful impact on employee morale without putting too much of a burden on the hosting company.

Incentive programs are nothing new; they have long been used in the corporate world as a way to recognize superior work and to motivate employees to reach for the brass ring on whatever they do. While it may seem counterproductive to spend money on an employee recognition program when the economy is endlessly shifting, the truth is that a rewards program of this nature can be a cost-effective way to get the attention of employees who may be feeling neglected – and to start raising the bar a little higher in terms of employee work.

A professionally implemented employee program can be tailored to the budgetary guidelines of a company and will help to establish an understanding among employees that their employer is appreciative of their hard work and willing – even in this economic climate – to recognize their achievements; thus setting the standard for other employees to produce the work that will deliver them that same recognition.

Incentive Programs Help Ease Employee Burdens

Filed under: Employee Recognition, Incentive Programs — Incentive Programs Editor @ 9:25 am

The economy has presented many challenges over the past year, not the least of which is the struggle of companies of all sizes to stay afloat. There are few companies, in fact, that have escaped unscathed and most have had to adapt to economic changes by reducing payroll and even reducing their workforce through layoffs. Obviously for those who have lost their job these circumstances are less than desirable and even downright catastrophic. For those left behind, however, there is also a price to pay. Employees that are retained are then called upon to pick up the slack. The workforce may be down but there is still work to be done and someone has to do it. This has meant extra work for company employees and – in light of the economic circumstances – without a raise in pay. So how do companies show their employees that they value all their hard work? Employee incentive programs can help.

Through an employee rewards program companies can ensure that their employees are recognized for their work – but without having to make a huge financial investment. In fact, employee incentives can range in price; it is completely up to the company to determine the recognition program that works best for their budgetary needs. By making this effort, however, companies are saying to their employees that they are all in the economic fight together and that they are valued for what they bring to the table.

There’s no reason to let morale slip even further than it already has in the current economic climate. With a dedicated – and still affordable – employee recognition program today’s companies can still give their employees the feedback that they seek in knowing that they are doing a good job and their efforts during this trying time are well noticed by their employers.

Battle Summertime Blues With An Employee Program

Filed under: Employee Program, Employee Recognition — Incentive Programs Editor @ 5:36 pm

With summertime also being vacation time for most people, productivity at a company can slack off rather markedly during this period. There are ways to fight back against the summertime blues without having to pull out a bullhorn to keep staff members on task. When an employee program is put into action that makes working fun and rewarding, workers will retain their focus.

An employee recognition program that rewards productivity can create a sense of excitement and boost morale during slow periods and keep workers on their game by:

Giving them defined goals – When employee incentives are given out to those who reach certain goals, workers will have a set target to shoot for. This can create a sense of competition and camaraderie in the workplace that fires everyone up to do their best.

Showing them their efforts matter – Employee recognition programs can go a long way toward showing valued employees they really do matter. As vacation time rolls around, they can also help give workers the incentives they need to stay focused before they leave.

Giving them extras for their vacations – A well-rounded rewards program will offer a variety of prizes. Even when prizes aren’t elaborate, restaurant gift cards, discounts to hotels and other similar prizes can really appeal as workers try to budget for their time off. These rewards can entice action and get workers’ attention.

Providing a fun way to pass the time – It doesn’t matter how much employees love their jobs, working day in and day out can become a drag. When employee recognition programs create a competition of sorts, reporting for work can be much more enjoyable.

With summer vacations on the horizon, many workers find their heads in the clouds. An employee program can bring their focus back and help boost productivity at the same time.

The Real Rewards a Rewards Program Offers

Filed under: Rewards Program — Incentive Programs Editor @ 4:03 pm

It’s not uncommon for companies to put every expense made or anticipated under a microscope to check for necessity – especially at present. When it is time to review a rewards program for its economic viability pay attention to more than the obvious bottom line. There are more rewards in employee recognition than most managers realize unless they delve a little deeper.

If your company has a well-run employee incentives program in place, the potential rewards back to the company should not be taken lightly. The reality is they can actually add to the bottom line just like any other investment.

Rewards program designs that are fair, honor accomplishments and reach as many people as possible without budget busting, can have these potential moneymaking rewards attached:

Improved worker motivation – If an employee incentives program is designed to recognize productivity and set quotas, the motivation factor it can produce will generally be quite high. If workers know what they need to do to receive rewards, they will strive to achieve. This translates to higher productivity per hours paid, which simply adds to the bottom line.

Increased morale – When a rewards program is in place and it is managed with care, morale can rise. Workers like to be recognized for their efforts. This type of program will get that job done. When a professional facilitator is used to help with program oversight, this reward can be felt without a whole lot of work placed on manager shoulders either.

Lowered attrition – Workers will come and go in any company. However, when rewards are high and morale is too, the rate can decrease. This can save companies money on hiring and training related expenses and keep good workers in place longer.

A rewards program won’t just reward workers. A good program will reward a company just as much or more.

Filed under: Employee Program, Employee Recognition — Incentive Programs Editor @ 1:28 pm

If you’ve been looking for ways to get your employees fired up about work, there are all kinds of options at your disposal. One of the best involves launching an employee program. When this type of undertaking is put into action, everyone can benefit.

A rewards program will require an investment and some serious thought. Still, when this undertaking is handled with finesse, the outcome can actually serve as more of an investment than an expense.

How is that so?

There are a number of ways a solid employee program can actually serve a company to its financial advantage. These include:

Productivity increases – Employee recognition programs that put the spotlight on achievement can motivate productivity like few other things. Even a tiered program that offers less expensive rewards for minor achievements and more elaborate ones for bigger accomplishments can make a huge difference in regard to worker output. The end result of this is more output for wages, which improves the budget.

Morale boosts – Employee incentives can give morale a huge boost. When workers feel like they will get something extra for their efforts or at least have a chance to do so, they tend to be much happier. The pat on the back that employee recognition provides doesn’t hurt either. After all, people do like to be thanked for their efforts. Incentives get this job done quite well.

Increased customer satisfaction – Competent, happy workers are much more likely to treat clients the right way. This, in turn, can boost sales, repeat business and most especially referrals. It does behoove companies to make sure workers are motivated on the customer service front.

An employee program has benefits that many companies might not stop to consider. When workers are rewarded for their efforts, the reality is everyone can benefit.

Gain The Benefits Of An Employee Program Without The Hassles

Filed under: Employee Incentives, Employee Program — Incentive Programs Editor @ 6:23 am

You’ve heard about all the benefits an employee program can deliver a company big or small. You love the way a good one can motivate workers, improve morale and even increase productivity. What you don’t love is the idea of how much work a program will put on your own plate. You’re not alone!

Fortunately, there is a way to reap the rewards of employee incentives without having to put much more effort into your own position. When you hire a reputable company to facilitate an employee recognition program, you can gain the rewards without the hassles

So, what can a good facilitator actually do for you? A reputable company won’t be able to fully oversee a program, but it can take a great deal of the work off your shoulders by:

Assisting with program design – There are a lot of different ways to establish a rewards program. A facilitator can help you select the path that’s right for you and your workers.

Helping you select prizes – A good program facilitator will give you access to literally thousands of prizes in all different price ranges. This means you can completely customize prize offerings to meet your employees’ tastes and your budget.

Assisting in the creation of a prize catalog – Once potential prizes are selected, a facilitator can create an online catalog or even a paper one from which employees can choose their prizes.

Overseeing prize delivery – While you will have to choose your own winners, a facilitator can take away all the work after that point. A good company can help employees select and receive their prizes.

An employee program can give a company a big shot in the arm when it comes to morale and productivity. The work involved, however, can seem like more effort than it’s worth. This isn’t the case when a good facilitator is selected to assist.

Employee Incentives Do Get Results

Filed under: Employee Incentives, Employee Recognition — Incentive Programs Editor @ 8:40 am

For anyone who hasn’t seen a good employee incentives program in action it can be hard to fathom just how this expenditure can turn out to be an investment. After all, since workers get paid to do their jobs, there is little reason to give them more, right? Wrong!

Yes, of course, employees are paid to do their jobs and most do meet the standard qualifications with little or no trouble. It’s the workers that tend to go above and beyond, however, that make excellent companies stand out as such. Motivating over achievement is what employee recognition programs can accomplish.

So, how can a rewards program do this?

When an employee program is designed to recognize workers who go beyond normal expectations, it can set the bar for others to follow. In doing so, it can give those workers who do achieve a well-deserved pat on the back. Basically, a good rewards program can have two direct impacts on the workplace:

Increased motivation – When incentive programs single out workers who achieve beyond the norm, it sets the example for others. As this occurs, workers will know what they need to do to shine in their positions. If the rewards are just enticing enough and put within reach, a program can actually motivate others to reach for the prize, so to say.

Improved morale – Morale is an infectious thing. When it is low, it can spread like wildfire. When it is high, it can spark a company and its workers to achieve great things. A rewards program can improve morale by showing employees they do matter, they are appreciated and their efforts count. When morale is boosted, the impacts affect not only other workers, but customers, as well.

An employee incentives program can provide the results companies need to succeed. When workers are happy, everyone benefits.

Employee Recognition Is An Investment That Pays Off

Filed under: Employee Program, Employee Recognition — Incentive Programs Editor @ 2:15 pm

Spending money unnecessarily in this economy is just plain silly. Investing money, however, is not. When it’s time to put down some capital to help grow a company and ensure that it can withstand the ups and downs that will no doubt continue for a time, employee recognition can be a very good choice.

An employee program is nothing more than an investment in what most companies classify as their most valuable assets – people. When a rewards program is well-designed, every dime spent can be easily justified in as an investment in productivity and customer service.

How is this so?

When employee recognition programs do their jobs right, they can help companies boost the morale of workers. The spin off effects of making sure employees are well taken care of and satisfied in their positions cannot be overstated. They include:

Greater output – When workers believe their company cares about them and recognizes their efforts, they tend to produce more and do so with skill. If a rewards program recognizes positive efforts, it can have a huge impact on productivity.

Improved customer service – When employees are pleased with their positions and where they stand in a company, they tend to go above and beyond to make clients happy. This can result in better customer service, repeat business and increased referrals. While an employee program won’t be able to do it all alone, it can blend very well with fair treatment, decent pay and other benefits.

Reduced turnover – When workers are satisfied in their positions and feel well rewarded, they tend to stay put. Incentive programs won’t eliminate turnover, but it can have a big impact in reducing the loss of good workers.

Employee recognition programs can make a big difference for companies and their workers. When it’s time to invest in the future, banking on people can be very wise.
