How To Find The Best Employee Incentives

An employee incentives program that doesn’t give workers the prizes they want will fall flat before it even gets started. When prizes are meaningful, interesting and sought after, the benefits of a rewards program will be felt.

So, how can companies be certain they are offering their employees the rewards they desire? There are a few steps that can be taken to help out:

Step one – Ask employees what motivates them. Run a survey to see the kind of small, medium and large rewards that might get workers to take notice of an employee program. When workers pick the rewards, a program will be noticed and its effects will be evident.

Step two – Hire a good facilitator. In many cases, workers will list off a wide variety of employee incentives that cover a lot of price ranges. To make sure rewards arrive in winners hands and that variety and selection is available, hiring a facilitator makes sense. The best companies that specialize in employee recognition offer access to thousands of prizes and they make it their business to keep rewards programs interesting.

Step three – Make sure a program is fair and well designed. Just having managers pick their favorites month in and month out likely won’t work for an employee program. A more involved process that allows all workers an opportunity to earn rewards can work more effectively. Dream up ideas in-house and even ask facilitation companies for assistance on program formats.

Creating an employee incentives program is an excellent way to get workers to perform at or beyond expectations. To really see the rewards, however, companies need to make sure their prizes and program designs make sense to workers. When thought goes into the creation, an employee program should pay off with as many rewards for the company as its workers.
