How To Create A Topnotch Employee Program

Filed under: Employee Program — Incentive Programs Expert @ 6:37 pm

An employee program is a great investment in workers and their morale. Unfortunately, many companies cut corners on the design and execution of employee incentives programs to their own detriment. If your company is considering launching a rewards program of its own, there are some things you need to consider.

To create a topnotch employee program that really gets the job done right, some thought and planning will need to go into the design. Some of the things that need to be carefully mulled over include:

The structure of the program – Some employee incentives programs are designed to offer one or two awards a year to a handful of employees and that’s it. Other programs are created in tiers where more workers might be touched over the course of a calendar year. The bottom tiers of this type of program will offer smaller, more token in nature prizes. The higher tiers for the top performers or the overall yearly winners will offer better prizes.

The criteria for winning – Failing to set this up right can be a fatal flaw in any incentives program. To really gain the benefits of a rewards program, it’s vital that clear criteria for winning be established. Whether this is a quota or nomination system or something completely different, concise rules can help employees know favoritism will not be played.

The actual prizes – Prizes do not necessarily have to be outrageously expensive to reward workers and help them feel appreciated. It can help, however, to make certain diversity is part of the program. When a facilitator is hired to oversee a rewards program, this will not be an issue. The best will give their clients access to thousands of prizes they can use in their own programs.

Creating an employee program is an excellent way to reward workers for jobs well done. To get the most out of the venture, it does pay to carefully consider quality.
