Employee Recognition Shows Them You Care

Managing the day-to-day operations of a company and its employees is a big job. In the course of getting things done, there just isn’t always the time for niceties that most managers would like to lavish on workers who perform. When it’s time to show them their efforts do matter and are noticed, why not make up for lost time by instituting an employee recognition program?

Employee incentives programs are a lot easier to establish than many managers might realize. While they will require an investment of capital, they can even pay off with major and positive impacts on the bottom line, too.

Launching a rewards program will take some thought and a little effort. While a professional facilitator can help out tremendously, there are a few things you’ll need to decide on your own to make a program work. These things include:

Your criteria – Only you can decide how employees will become eligible for recognition. An employee program can be based on nominations, performance milestones, sales and a host of other factors. It is often best to make the eligibility factors very clear so a program is designed to be fair.

Tiers – Some rewards programs are designed to be tiered in nature. This means top performers might gain access to more expensive rewards, but modest performers would not be left out either. They would receive prizes from a lower tier.

Frequency – You will need to decide how often employee recognition awards will be given out. The more common setups involve monthly, quarterly and yearly programs.

The budget – Prizes for a rewards program can run a rather large range in regard to costs. You will need to set a budget and work within it to select prizes. A facilitator can help out on this front greatly by providing access to literally thousands of potential prizes in a wide range of price points.

Recognizing workers doesn’t have to be an impossible undertaking. When a rewards program is put into place you can make sure workers who deserve thanks get it.
